Understanding Your Lithium Power System

Goldfields builds fitted with lithium batteries, including 300Ah and 600Ah systems.

Your battery stores the energy used by your camper’s electrical equipment. Current Goldfields builds include 300Ah and 600Ah lithium configurations, depending on the model and selected options. Check your build information for the battery bank fitted to your unit.

What does Ah mean?

Ah means amp-hours and describes battery capacity. It is different from amps, which describe current flowing at a particular moment, and watts, which describe power.

At the same voltage, a 600Ah battery bank has approximately twice the nominal stored energy of a 300Ah bank. It does not automatically allow you to run appliances with twice the power demand. The battery discharge limits, inverter, wiring and protection also determine what your system can supply.

Understanding your display

Depending on the equipment fitted, your monitor may show battery percentage, voltage, current and charging information. Use the correct monitor manual to understand the readings. A battery-percentage reading depends on the monitoring system being correctly configured.

Looking after lithium batteries

  • Use charging equipment and settings approved for the exact battery.

  • Do not apply AGM charging or storage instructions to a lithium system.

  • Follow the battery manufacturer’s charging-temperature and storage limits.

  • Avoid leaving the system unattended with loads that could flatten the battery.

  • Do not change battery profiles or protection settings without advice.

Battery protection

The battery management system, or BMS, can stop charging or discharging when a protection limit is reached. A shutdown does not necessarily mean the battery has failed.

Record the warning, turn off unnecessary loads if safe, and contact Goldfields if the cause is unclear. Do not bypass the BMS or repeatedly force the system to restart.
